Samsung Galaxy SII & Note Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update In Q1, 2012
Samsung aficionados need not feel inferior to Apple fanboys with iOS 5.0.1. Samsung has officially #-Link-Snipped-# that the popular Galaxy series phones will get Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich treatment in the first quarter of 2012. First Galaxy series devices to get the new Android will be Samsung Galaxy SII & Samsung Galaxy Note. Users may note that following Galaxy series devices can be upgraded to ICS - GALAXY S II, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus. The company says that separate announcements will be made for each of the devices based on market situations & carrier's requirements. Currently, Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the only phone in the series which features Android 4.

The Ice Cream Sandwich brings a new GUI and offers improved multi-tasking abilities, Wi-Fi Hotspot, NFC support and improved web browsing experience. Plus, the ICS offers 'Face Unlock' feature which uses facial recognition technology to unlock the phone. Android Beam will allow quick and easy sharing of content among the Android phones.
