SAFETY ON EXPRESS WAY WITH LANE SHIFTING DETECTION AND OVER SPEED DETECTION USING IMAGE PROCESSING

Project Abstract / Summary : We are designing a system which will automatically shift the vehicles to appropriate lane as per the weight class. Over speed detection is carried out. It also helps remove the foreground noise and shadow. This approach is scalable to most freeway surveillance video... So to deal with this problem we propose an automated system which will automatically track the vehicles in the respective lanes as well as monitor the speed of vehicles

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : As traffic surveillance technologies continue to grow worldwide, vehicle detection, counting and tracking are becoming increasing important. This paper proposes a real-time multi-vehicle detection and tracking approach. Lane marker detection is carried out for vehicle shifting on each lane. It also helps remove the foreground noise and shadow. This approach is scalable to most freeway surveillance video. Several freeway surveillance videos are used to evaluate the performance of the traffic surveillance system. The proposed approach is compared with the standard blob tracking.
