Renault's Twizy has been adopted to fire-fighters' needs. The company had demonstrated Twizy back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a two seater designed for urban transport. Twizy is equipped with 17 hp (13 kW) motor that goes 100 kilometers once charged. A 10 amp outlet would charge Twizy fully in just 3.5 hours. Priced at ~$11,000; Twizy would require monthly expense of $70 for the li-ion batteries.

Twizy has been adopted to suit the firefighter's needs by the engineering team at Renault Tech, company's vehicle conversion subsidiary in association with the Paris firefighter brigade. This small electric car will offer the first aid at the spot before the main firefighting teams arrive on the spot. The car will carry all the require life-saving equipments. The rear seat has been replaced by a trunk to store oxygen cylinders, fire extinguishers, helmets and medical first aid kits.

Paris firefighter brigade is looking at the possibility of setting up a fleet of these cars and is expected to begin the 8-month long tests & trial period starting November.

It’s fascinating to see the Renault Twizy adapted for firefighting use! The idea of a compact electric vehicle carrying essential life-saving gear makes so much sense for urban emergency response where every second counts. What stands out is how Renault Tech collaborated with the Paris firefighter brigade to optimize the vehicle for real-world first aid situations, removing the rear seat for oxygen cylinders, fire extinguishers, and medical kits is a clever way to maximize utility.

For anyone interested in outfitting emergency vehicles with compact trauma solutions, brands like FlareSyn provide specialized kits that could perfectly complement a vehicle like the Twizy. Their range of tactical and vehicle trauma kits ensures responders have immediate access to high-quality first aid supplies right on the spot. You can check out more about their gear here: https://flaresyn.com.

It reminds me of a story shared by a paramedic on FlareSyn’s site, having a well-stocked compact trauma kit in a vehicle literally saved precious minutes during a roadside emergency. Small innovations like this Twizy conversion, combined with reliable first aid kits, could make a huge difference in saving lives before the larger fire trucks arrive.

Are you sure? This action cannot be undone.
