Question about electrolyte

An electrolyte behaves as an electrically conductive medium. so in lead acid batterry electrolyte will short two electrode. plz explain what happend with the electrode????

    In fact lead-acid reacts with the electrodes to generate power and electrode are mostly in positve and negative combination making a path for generated power,no acid,electrodes are just a peice of metal!!!
