PS4 Development Not Suspended. PS 3.5 Likely

Tech websites all over the Internet have been flooded with the news that Sony has suspended Playstation 4 development. The news came as a big shock for all the gaming console fanatics. However, it turns out that the websites that broke out the rumor actually misinterpreted the Japanese text. #-Link-Snipped-#, the CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment never said that the PS4 development was suspended. He said that Sony isn't rushing to launch PS4 and they are working on their portable gaming devices and keeping the PS3 up to date with software. [IMG]

In recent years, the electronic majors are focusing their attention on handheld devices and making them so powerful that they'll be single point access for communication, computing, entertainment and gaming. The rumor got fueled by reports that even Microsoft was scrapping further development of next generation XBOX. Typically consoles have 10 year life cycle and if Sony decided to follow it, we'd not see Playstation 4 until 2016. However, going with the current expectations of the gaming domain experts, Sony will likely debut PS4 in 2013.

...and that is a good news! Playstation 3 features great hardware and the latest firmware upgrade give it 3D capabilities. It makes perfect sense for Sony to take out the most from the hardware via software updates. Sony is likely to launch Playstation 3.5, but there isn't much information available about it at the moment. Sony must also consider the game developer community as it'll take lot of time for the developers to adopt to new platform. Plus, I believe we still have a huge space in the PS3 gaming domain which will take at least 2 years to fill.
