  • Sony’s PlayStation 4 will be incapable of playing DVDs and BluRay discs when it is launched next month. Apart from optical media playback PS4 will also be missing the most talked about features like Remote Play, Second Screen, gameplay recording and upload, live gameplay streaming, play as you download, multiple user logins, online multiplayer and PlayStation camera functionality out of the box. Sony enthusiasts must not fret though as a system software update will be available for download on the launch date to fix all the above issues.

On its #-Link-Snipped-#, Sony’s US division has given the details of the update version 1.50 for PS4 and states that the users have to download the 300 MB update to experience the aforementioned features. One of the features that will still be missing even after the upgrade is the “suspend/resume mode” which would put the PlayStation 4 in a low power consuming mode and gamers will be able to instantly resume the game from the place they had left. More details on this upgrade will be available on November 15 when the console makes its debut in North America followed by its Europe debut on November 22nd.

300 MB won't be a big download; but the problem would for those who don't have an Internet connection. I think it's a better strategy to wait for the version 1.1 of the console in the next few months (likely in 2014) before putting in our hard-earned money.
