From whispers to leaks, the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Oppo has created a vivid image of its next item Oppo F5, soon to be launched in Indian market. Fact is, we did not know the date for sure until today, as Oppo's special press invites finally broke the news about Oppo F5's commercial availability on November 2. Setting up space for it in Mumbai, the company seems to vaunt the front-facing camera of its new smartphone.

The model was designed to capture the south-west Asian market but other countries such as Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Malaysia are still out of luck as launch date hasn't been mentioned for them. It's a mid-range phone, yet an important addition to the Oppo's line up. Will it be something new? We would be hard-pressed to agree but it does worth your time as the growing need of smartphones has made them one of the competent manufacturers.

The press promotion also revealed that the phone will bear company's first bezel-less display and sport an FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. No doubt, it would be a camera centric smart phone having an F tag attached to its name. Moreover, the release talks about a new AI feature that will be integrated with the smartphone. Dubbed as ‘AI Beauty Recognition technology’, this will enhance your facial texture by realizing skin type and tone, your age and gender. Even though it sounds fulsome, perfecting such detection system is not a piece of cake. If Oppo does what it promised, it will win a thousand hearts with plenty of bucks for sure.

Now it’s time to review the just launched Oppo F3 Lite. Vietnam release shows, the phone sports a 5.2-inch HD LCD display with 2.5D curved glass. Having Android 6.0 Marshmallow in core, it sports an overlay of ColorOS 3.0. As for its internal storage, it gives 32GB with a microSD expansion option, up to 128 GB. Powered by an octa-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 505 GPU, the phone sports good enough specifications for day-to-day use.

Camera-wise, ( note it has “F” ) it sports 13 MP back panel sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, and PDAF, along with an LED flash module. On the front side, it is embedded with a 16 MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity wise, it offers 4G LTE, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi, USB, GPS and 3.5 mm audio jack. What more? You get a fingerprint scanner on the home button. And all these for Rs. 16,000 (approximately), real price being $240. It house a 2900 mAh

Opinion for F3 Lite: I really can’t believe, I am doing this! But strictly speaking, go for it if you have special interest in capturing good quality selfies. 16MP front deserves a treat from my savings. Otherwise, well no until you love spending money on something less valuable. Keep this in mind, it offers you poor battery with a tighter screen and less storage compared to say, Redmi Note 4. Plus you pay more than it deserves. Don’t forget to share your honest opinions with us.

I completely agree with your opinion. If anyone wants an all round performer for less than what it costs for the Oppo F3 Lite one has to go for the Redmi Note 4 top end variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB memory. Oppo has managed to carve a niche market for itself in India by focusing on its cameras and aggressively marketing it for the people who still prefer to buy their smartphone in brick and mortar shops. Its sister company Vivo does the same thing as well.
