At a time when cyberspace is being treated like a path for economic and social prosperity, UK government has released #-Link-Snipped-#, a revamped version of the existing Computer Misuse Act, having measurable goals. The governments move to keep the legislative up to date has received a warm response. The minister said the increased use of online activities is the reason for the security threat happening now.

The report said that both government and businesses should work in unison to aid in the effective implementation of the plan and help avoid the risks the consumers and the businesses are facing. They must work hard to prevent security threats from happening ad they must do their part by “sharing information about threats in cyber space”. This is not an easy process; it requires a proper understanding about the way things work there. The plan extends over a timeline of 4 years and the investment made in this plan is 650 million pounds. One of the measures it has come up with is to hold regular meetings with the service providers to find out what can be done, them to protect their own customers and increase importance of education. The last goal has received tremendous appreciation.

People from the industry are quite satisfied with the attempts being made. The highlight according to them is the important role the service providers play in the entire plan. But there seems to be a drawback in this plan. When the entire country is hoping for legislation on data breach disclosure, this plan did not cater to their needs.  It also requires patience and persistence, which if not available in plenty can cause the people, go wild, claiming that the plan is not effective. A "government-sponsored venture capital model to unlock innovation on cyber security in SMEs" looks a bit risky. If these hurdles can be crossed then there are little possible problems in this plan.
