need some info in pairwise testing

hi friends...i need ur help
I am looking for pairwise testing using FSM. I have some doubts.
1.) In pairwise testing is it necessary that we should know the parameter value already ?? means parameter P can take value ( a,b,c) etc. what if a parameter take infinite value e.g parameter take all integer value ??
2.) I was trying to do pairwise testing using FSM and was not clear about how i should decide the parameter(or variable) for this. ?
