Navachar by Bajaj Electricals

Bajaj Electricals has launched Navachar - an innovation challenge at finding answers to the problem that India is facing. Despite becoming a power-surplus nation, close to 60million households in India have no access to electricity. Those who do, do not have a reliable power connection.

The Navachar innovation challenge hopes to find answers to these problems. Bajaj Electricals in inviting the best of the minds to innovate and is rewarding Rs. 6L cash prize to the best idea. The official website says that it's going to be pan-India search for innovators. Following three challenges are available:

1. Design a revolutionary monopol transmissions tower
- This will help solve the last mile connectivity problem in rural India.

2. Create a futuristic mechanism to power electrical devices
- This will solve the issues faced through frequent power cuts. The idea is to create a power source that will keep the gadgets running even during the power cuts.

3. Design 'Made-for_india' multi-utility lighte
The challenge asks participants to design a Swiss army knife equivalent of the portable light that is not inspired from the west.

Participants will have to apply and then submit their entries. The prize money offered is as follows:

1. First: Rs. 3L + Goodies
2. Second: Rs. 2L + Goodies
3. Third: Rs. 1L + Goodies

The innovators will get mentorship from distinguished leaders in the industry. Students, Startups and working professionals can participate.

Important dates:
1. Idea Submission deadline: December 30, 2017
2. Announcement of top 10 ideas: January 15, 2018
3. Demo Day: March 1, 2018
4. Results: March 10, 2018
