NASA To Upgrade Power Supplies For Future Missions

NASA is yet again back in action. It is a long time when NASA has #-Link-Snipped-#. Continuing its successful journey of completing a project once it is announced, the space agency has taken two more projects in hand. NASA has recently announced that its willingness to work on tackling critical issues in space journey. One of them is Ride the Light while the other is development of a prototype battery which can power future space missions.

'Ride the Light' concept mainly aims at developing an external power source to power aerospace vehicles. The #-Link-Snipped-# will no doubt reduce the extra cost incurred in bulky technologies involved in such applications but also will be beneficial because the concept can provide a reliable source of energy. The idea behind 'Ride the light' revolves around using beam power which is produced by conventional power sources like #-Link-Snipped-# and microwaves. In other words, the basic function which the project will serve is to provide a cheaper alternative for modular power beaming capability and other technologies.

In its bid to develop #-Link-Snipped-# to fuel future space mission, NASA has partnered with California based Amprius Inc. The company is involved in this project which costs $710,000 for one year. The battery will be subjected to low temperatures hence it is important that it should be able to function properly in that environment. This can be achieved after a proper optimization of present silicon anodes and developing an electrolyte. Amprius Inc is hence designing superior quality anodes which will not only sustain the harsh environment but will also increase the capacity of #-Link-Snipped-#. The projects as aimed for making missions more economical, will pave way for innovative means to empower future space tours.
