MS by Research in CSE from IIIT Hyderabad

I come from an ece background, but i love coding. So after my B.tech I have joined CDAC Kolkata (Thank you Kaustub Sir and Crazy Engineers Forum for Guiding me) for PG diploma in Advanced Computing. Here the mentors have influenced me so much that i would like to pursue my career in artificial intelligence (As robotics was always my priority in B.tech but couldn't found a way out).
Friends , i would like to know whether my decision of joining ms by research in IIIT hyderabad in Computer Science is wise? .(as I am 2014 pass out i cannot afford to spend another year for gate , but if i have a suggestion of working and preparing for gate even then i will follow the advice)
