Mining In Space Can Soon Be A Reality
Asteroids have been passing by our planet for millions of years, and these space rocks contain many valuable resources which are pretty rare on Earth. It may sound science fiction but space mining is actually gaining an executable plan.

A new private company named #-Link-Snipped-#, announced recently that they would be sending small spacecrafts to near-Earth asteroids for mining resources and turning them into products with the help of 3D printers.
Asteroids hold extremely valuable materials which include nickel, silicon, platinum, palladium, etc. They plan on building small low-cost miniature satellites to collect data about the best asteroids and hope to launch the first FireFly in 2015. After a year, DSI would launch larger satellites called DragonFlies that would be able to cover a journey to an asteroid and back with the products.
DSI claims to have patented technology for extracting precious metals from the asteroids and building it into parts with 3D printers. They would sell the asteroid data to the government space agencies and the extracted materials to collectors. Hopefully space mining could start a new revolution and we may just get closer in knowing the mysteries around the universe better.
