Microsoft Dialer Android App For Voice Calling To Be Designed Specially For India
A team of developers from Microsoft's Skype team is said to be working on a new Android app that lets you make voice calls even on slow internet connection. Being called Microsoft Dialer, the app is said to be designed exclusively for Indian market. Though there's no official word from the company about such an app, sources at NDTV have shared that the Microsoft Dialer app may be released on the Google Play Store by second week of December 2015. In fact, the news may very well be true as Microsoft India recently announced its plans to start the closed beta testing of Skype's India specific version. Not just Android, the company may also be gearing up for the launch of a Windows 10 Dialer version to be launched in 2016's first quarter.
It turns out that Microsoft may be working on such an Android app because it wants to cater to the Indian users living in remote areas who have rather slow and unreliable Internet connection. The said app may work on both 2G and 3G networks and may later go on to support video calling facility. Though one has to be informed that the company hasn't made any official declaration and therefore the final feature list on the Microsoft Dialer app may change.
Voice calling has been the one feature that's become really popular among Indian smartphone users in a very short time. WhatsApp calling is being extensively used and with other messengers like Hike up-ing the game, Skype was definitely feeling left out.
With Microsoft Dialer, the company wants to be back on the field and India is a hot bed for testing apps that work well on slow internet connections. What are your thoughts about a new voice calling app designed and developed by Microsoft for Android? Share with us in comments below.
