Micromax Windows 8 Smartphone Is Under Development #Rumour
Micromax isn't waiting the waves it created with Canvas 4 to settle and is expected to launch a Windows 8 based smartphone in Indian markets, BGR reports. The company is said to be in the process of developing a smartphone based on Windows 8 operating system. Considering that Micromax is the second biggest smartphone maker in India - the move could help Windows 8 penetrate in Indian markets. It'd be the first time that Micromax would shift its focus from Google's Android.
During the launch of Canvas 4, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma said that they're planning to launch a Windows 8 smartphone in coming weeks. It's also being learned that the company will also announce Windows 8 based tablet. The specs and expected time of launch isn't known yet. But given the speed at which Micromax is moving, we can look forward to the new product launches by the year end.
That said, the company is also in the process of developing 4G devices including smartphones and dongles. Mr. Sharma said that the company is very aggressive on 4G offerings. However, the launch of 4G products would be decided once the Indian ecosystem is ready.
We think almost everyone is waiting for Reliance to announce nation-wide 4G networks. The company's been preparing for the 4G roll-out for several months now and has already conducted tests in select cities with a few customers. If the things go as planned, we might see Reliance 4G network in the next 3-4 months.
It's almost obvious that the coming months are going to be quite exciting for the Micromax fans!
