Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax has put up its new smartphone, the Canvas Amaze for sale. A few days after surfacing on the company’s official website, the Micromax Canvas Amaze went up for sale via an obscured listing on eBay India website. The listing states that the Android Lollipop smartphone is available for Rs. 7999, so we can safely assume that the pricing in brick and mortar shops is going to be around the same ballpark. The Micromax Canvas Amaze starts off its feature list with the usual 5-inch IPS panel display with a HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and covers it with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Since it’s an entry-level smartphone, the Micromax Canvas Amaze is equipped with the cheap and abundantly used MediaTek MT 6580 chipset that houses a 1.3GHz ARM Cortex-A7 CPU and Mali-400 MP GPU. The only change on the Canvas Amaze is the presence of 2GB DDR3 RAM instead of the usual 1GB. This makes it a little more efficient than other smartphones with the same chipset such as the Gionee Pioneer P3S. The internal memory stands at 8GB out of which 4.27GB is left vacant for the user to install apps. Partly because along with the operating system the company has loaded lot of apps such as Clean Master, Hotstar, Amazon, Hike and a couple of average games. As you might know, in most Micromax smartphones it is not possible to move apps to the microSD card unless you root it, so the microSD card that you put in the 32GB slot is only meant for media storage. While its innards might be the same as the Micromax Canvas Juice 3, the company ups the camera to a 13MP sensor on the rear and a 5MP one on the front.

The dual-SIM equipped Micromax Canvas Amaze is powered by a 2600mAh battery that is claimed to last for up to 260 hours on standby and offer 7 hours of talktime. To cater to regional users, Micromax has included the Firstouch Regional Keyboard that includes the matras and word prediction capabilities for 10 Indian languages. The Micromax Canvas Amaze is a common or garden variety smartphone that will soon be forgotten after initial sale.
