MEGGER launches new HV insulation testing instrument BM5200

High voltage insulation testing is one of the crucial diagnostic test to be performed before any electrical installation. This is necessary to ensure the safety of the people and preventive maintenance. Taking into consideration the following needs Megger has launched HV insulation tester BM5200.

It has the following features:
1. Convenient to use on day to day basis and the setup is easy.
2. The insulation range is 100K ohm to 1T ohm and the voltage range is 250 V to 5kV.
3. The developing faults are detected by measuring the resistance changes which are of the order of tens of Giga ohms. These cannot be detected with the instruments reading infinity after a certain value, but the BM5200 can sense it.
4. It has available with digital as well as analog display.
5. It works for AC as well as DC voltages.
6. It has 3 user settable modes namely InS, PI ( polarization index) and t (test timer mode) for IR (insulation resistance) test with default time setting of 1min minimum and 19 min 50 sec maximum.
7. It has a guard terminal which helps us get an accurate result in presence of surface leakage current by shunting it.
8. It is compact in size, weighs 1.45kg only and is portable.
9. This instruments , automatically discharges the capacitive circuits which are being tested.
10. It is powered by (AA) batteries and has insulated clamp test leads.
All the above features signify that BM5200 is a versatile instrument, simple in installation and rugged in construction. This has definitely increased the feasibility of HV testing.
