From my experience, I can tell you its not easy to find these online, you must visit forums or websites dedicated to the topics the ASME code book is refering to. I tried to find ASME books on SMA alloys but it wasnt easy, there might be some companies that have it, try to contact directly or someone in that company.

Oh, just a curious thought. Isn't sharing of e-books not allowed in CE? 😛 Unless of course, it is meant to be free in the first place (ie journals, reports, datasheets..).

Let's keep it simple. We don't want to be involved in any kind of illegal activity. If ebooks are the 'freeware' types, they can be shared through CE. But of course, we cannot verify copyright of each & every ebook shared through CE. In any case, CE cannot be held responsible for promoting illegal activities. The posts are owned by the individual members.
We can easily delete posts or ban members who ask for 'serial numbers' or cracks through CE. Its that simple.
Let's be innovative & use our own creative/fertile brains. That's how we'll create a better place to live 😉

yup, you are right. But here in dubai I cannot find any good book, -- on anything related to engineering, and even if i do, believe me it is about 3x the price because of local distributors...making money. for example, my engineering texts here will cost from 99/- to 400/- dirhams which is about 1000/- to 4000/- rupees (Simplified, actually its 1 Dhr = 12.6something Rupees). In india you get the same for 120 rupees to 500 rupees and such.
And yea, if they are free e-books then its no probs😀
Now, anyone willing to sit and check each link, if free or not, raise your hand. (Its the same way I refer to my Playstation games as Backups) 😁 😛

Quite a collection of Engineering e-books. Personally I prefer to buy the REAL books from the bookstores. And make sure it is a brand new copy of the latest edition no matter how much it costs. I hate second hand stuff.

You are right about that Raj. Having a real book in your hand is something much MUCH better than e-books.
However, i think its better to have 2nd hand too (good condition), because knowledge must be passed on. (And Ive seen many many new books thrown about in college....waste of good resources).

In a real book you can underline the important points. Add some of your own notes in the side of the text. And best of all, you can read it anytime anywhere. For an e-book you have to be in front of a screen. You don't get the feel of the book.
I agree that knowledge has to be passed on and a second hand in good condition is also good. But, I have a kind of fetish for brand new ones. Sometimes the second hand books have important points underlined and some small notes here and there.
While reading I like to have a pencil or pen in hand to write notes and underline stuff, but when its already done, I don't feel like reading anymore.

Heehe, excellent points!! So true, a new book has a different aroma of itself...something like an adventurous jungle. Moreover, getting a second hand book with "Highlighter Rainbows" shooting from every page and thick ball point pen marks for alternating sentences (I prefer pencil whenever marking anything 😀 makes it really bad.
