LG X Cam and X Screen Android Marshmallow Smartphones To Debut At MWC 2016
Korean electronics company, LG has announced that it will be launching a new line-up smartphones called the âXâ series at the Mobile World Congress scheduled to be held at Barcelona on February 22. LG gave a sneak peak at the first two members of the âXâ family are the X Cam and X Screen in the press release. Before we talk about the smartphones in detail, we would like to reflect on LGâs strategy of launching smartphones which shall have one exceptional feature and regular innards. LG states that âXâ range of smartphones have been designed for customers who do not need all the tech specs that come with flag-ship smartphones and they would be satisfied having one or two good features. This strategy might backfire in developing smartphone markets like India where manufacturers like Motorola, Xiaomi and Lenovo try to provide maximum bangs for their customers buck.
Coming to the smartphones, we would like to start with the LG X Cam. As the name makes it clear, the LG X Cam has above average cameras both on the front and the rear. On the rear we find a dual camera setup consisting of a 13MP and 5MP sensor which was first seen on the HTC M8. On the front we have an 8MP sensor which is larger than most mid-range offerings which have at most a 5MP one. The LG X Cam sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display on which you can enjoy Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Underneath the hood we find a 1.14GHz octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM on an as yet unspecified SoC. The smartphone supports 4G LTE connectivity and will be sold in Titan Silver, White, Gold and Pink Gold colour variants. The LG X Cam has an internal memory of 16 GB and is powered by a 2520mAh battery.
The second smartphone called the LG X Screen has a second âalways-onâ second screen that sits on top of the main display. LG has similar arrangement on the much expensive V10. On the X Screen, the second display is a smaller 1.76 inch but offers the same functionality as the one of the V10. You can access frequently used apps, attend calls and play music and more without having to unlock the 4.93 inch HD display. Underneath the hood we find a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM on an unspecified chipset. You get a 13 MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera on the LG X Screen. The internal memory of the LG X Screen stands at 16GB and it is powered by a 2300mAh battery. This smartphone too runs Android Marshmallow.
The LG X Cam and X Screen will be displayed for visitors at the MWC and they shall make their way to Asia, Europe and Latin America markets starting from next month. If the pricing is right these phones are certain to generate a lot of interest from the public.
