LG G Flex Price In South Korea Revealed; France Launch Next Month [Update]
The LG G Flex has not been a well protected secret. After LG G Flex - The 6-inch Curved Smartphone Is Happening, Leaked Images Appear LG has finally confirmed its first curved smartphone. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Round Features World's First Full HD Super AMOLED Flexible Display, the G Flex is curved from the top to bottom and has a bigger 6 inch display. Before we jump to the detailed analysis of the innards let us take a look at the things that are unique to the LG G Flex. Starting with the display, the curved 6 inch 720p (1280 x 720) Plastic OLED (POLED) display was developed exclusively for the G Flex by LG Display & LG Chem. The POLED display and OLED panel are built on plastic substrates instead of glass to make it more durable.
LGâs designers have opted for a top to bottom curved design inspired from old school land line phones for better voice reception. They claim that the design fits more comfortable in oneâs back pocket and offers 'IMAX-like' video playback experience. LG has also given the G Flex a âSelf Healingâ coating on the back cover of the smartphone. This elastic coating cover will repair any small nicks and scratches caused by daily use by itself in minutes. It seems LG has taken notice of all the complaints it received about the fragile rear glass cover of the Google Nexus 4 after all.
Underneath the hood we find a 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor on a MSM 8974 chipset along with 2GB of LP DDR3 RAM and a 450 MHz Adreno 330 GPU running Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The phone has an internal memory of 32 GB and #-Link-Snipped-# does not mention any external storage option for the Korean model. Shutterbugs will be glad to find a rear 13.0MP and a front 2.1MP snapper. The smartphone has a non-user removable embedded 3,500mAh battery that has been developed by using LGâs patented Stack & Folding technology. G Flex works on LTE-A, LTE, HSPA+ and GSM bands and offers connectivity options like USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and NFC. The phone which measures 160.5 x 81.6 x 7.9 - 8.7mm and weighs 177 grams is available only in Titan Silver colour variant. The phone goes on sale in Korea at the starting of next month and will ship to other markets later. LG has however remained mum on a price tag for the G Flex but we can assure you it wonât come cheap.
Update: LG has now outed a press release that says - the LG G Flex will be sold for 999,900 won ($941) in South Korea. The phone is going on sale beginning November 12 on all three major telecom operators of the country. LG has also revealed that it will be launching the LG G Flex in France next month.
