LG Associates With Sharp, Philips To Develop Better TV Apps!

South Korean company LG Electronics announced that it has formed a business relationship with Dutch electronics titan Philips and Japan's Sharp to strengthen the production of applications for Internet-powered televisions. LG in a statement said that the three TV marketers together will be creating software development kits, which then will be distributed to third-party developers to compose TV applications.

LG stated that this collaboration is first of its kind as witnessed by the smart TV sector, further stating that they would be finishing the software development kits before 2012. Their plan includes employing different operating system for their smart TVs, and once they take on a common technology standard to build their applications, these applications would will then become interchangeable. This collaboration will significantly affect TV makers, app developers and users.

LG is still recovering from the drooping sales of mobile phones and televisions this year, as it failed to contest Apple and Samsung in the smartphone market.  It has high hopes that this venture will benefit all three companies equally. With their reputation behind them, there's no reason to believe that they will be delivering some awesome TV apps soon!
