LG 55" OLED TV To Launch In 2012
The #-Link-Snipped-# technology set the world of mobile phones ablaze by offering crisp and clear displays that produced deeper blacks. OLED suffered from problems associated with mass production. However technological advancements have removed that problem and today, LG made a surprise announcement. LG Display CEO Kwon Young-soo announced that the company will debut 55" OLED screen TV in the second half of 2012. He said that the company believes that there's no point in focusing only on production of OLEDs for mobiles and tablet computers.

Kwon said that OLEDs have more flaws than their current AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) LCD technology. The company won't make investments in production of OLEDs for smaller devices. Instead, the company will focus more on mass production of bigger OLEDs to be used in televisions. Kwon says LG Display is determined to make this a real-world product: 'Initial production volume would be only tens of thousands of units due to limited production facilities, but we will expand them to a mass production system, observing market reactions.'
