Lava's Iris series just got updated with the arrival of IRIS 504q smartphone. Indians had got quite excited after Lava floated the teaser '<a href="https://www.crazyengineers.com/threads/lavas-new-touch-phone-minus-the-touch-is-coming-soon.68472">Lava's New 'Touch Phone Minus The Touch' Is Coming Soon!</a> and there were many shares across social media where all began the guess game about the features, tech specs and price of this new baby from Lava. Now, with a price tag of Rs. 13,500, declaring it a mid-range smartphone, Lava IRIS 504q is taking pride in being one of the thinnest smartphones at 8.4mm featuring a 1.2 GHz quad core processor for the budget-conscious young crowd of India. Accommodating a 5-inch multi-touch OGS IPS display with a 1280 x 720p resolution screen for your HD quality needs, this smartphone from Lava is banking on its gesture-recognition support feature to become a hit in the Indian market.

So, with IRIS 504q you can actually perform the touch functions on this touch-screen without actually touching it. Using a variety of gestures, users are able to change tracks on their playlists, capture images, tune FM radio or view pictures in the gallery with just the swipe of their hand over the screen. Powering up upon a 2000mAh battery, this smartphone features the Android 4.2 - Jelly Bean OS. With two cameras - a 8 megapixel rear one and a 2 megapixel front one, capturing photos, videos and making video calls is hassle free and just about good in quality.

Coming to the user's storage needs - this phone packs a 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 32GB using the microSD card. Apart from these features, a number of apps come pre-installed as you take the phone out of its box. Some of these are Hungama Music, Opera browser and the game - Modern Combat HD. Hitting the market in the last week of June, this smartphone will be available across India in retail stores. The company plans to sell 15 lakh devices in October 2013. Lava International co-founder and Director Hari Om Rai said, "Lava believes in enhancing consumer experience while assisting efficiency and helping consumers to enjoy products that meet their needs ... Iris 504q is a technologically competitive product available at a smart price."

Smart indeed! Love the specs, especially the battery! But the real question is would people spend this amount of cash (even if it's just 13k bucks) for features over company name?? 😒

With options available in the market in the similar price range like Karbonn Titanium S5 and Micromax Canvas HD, i don't think the phone will be able to make it's mark.

But specs are quite good for the price.😉

To my surprise, this phone is getting a lot more attention from the media than I had expected. It turns out that 1GB RAM has become the standard even for the most of the recent product launches from the so called 'budget phone' companies. Interesting, isn't it?

Ye it's been a trend, but there is another more interesting news coming from Karbonn mobiles. There are rumours that the new Karbonn Titanium S6 is going to feature a full HD screen and 'Snapdragon' SoC. Interesting, isn't it?
