Indian Government Approves 3G Video Calling

The Department of Teleom of India has finally approved Video Calling over 3G in India. However, the telecom operators and 3G network providers have been asked to demonstrate infrastructure capabilities by July 31, 2011. In their official statement, DoT officials said,“It has now been decided that carriage of video calls on mobile networks would be permitted, subject to an undertaking by the service providers concerned that they shall demonstrate the required capability by July 31.”

3G Video Calling

The telecos have agreed to unconditionally and unequivocally withdraw the the video calling service if the quality of the service was not up to the mark. Further, there won't be any delay in withdrawal of the service. DoT has asked Tata Teleservices and Reliance Communications to withhold 3G video calling services until further approval from the government.
