Do you remember IE aka the Internet Explorer - the browser from Microsoft that continued to dominate the web browser markets for a long time until Chrome and Firefox took over? Well, Microsoft's not given up hopes on IE yet and is continuously adding new things to it. The latest update on the IE front is that the Internet Explorer 11 is confirmed to support WebGL and SPDY3. The browser will make it to the computers along with Windows 8.1 later this year. The update also confirms that Microsoft's is paying more attention to standards than ever!
As of now, IE passes 73% of Khronos' WebGL tests, but we won't expect more from it considering that fact that it's still under development and has been tested on Windows Server 2012 R2. Expect the percentage compliance to go up once Microsoft releases Windows 8.1
In the meanwhile, Microsoft's also showing some love to their enemy - Google. Google's SPDY will be fully supported by IE 11. The protocol, pronounced as 'Speedy' is an open networking protocol developed by Google primarily for transport of web content. It's slowly working its way towards standardization and currently available as a draft. IE supporting SPDY is definitely a step forward in the right direction for IE.
Geek.com reports that an an option added to the download manager allows smartscreen filter to be turned off easily. We learn that there are planned enhancements for multi-page articles rendering in IE11. More about this, later; once we have some concrete information.
Microsoft will reveal more about IE's latest version in the coming days. We hope to be able to get our hands on as soon as Windows 8.1 preview is made available (it should be, shortly).
