Ideas For Analysis?

i am working at Research in Motion as a Co-op student. I am a field tester. I have been assigned a project. i have to analyze and write a report on a tool that we are introducing in our test effort. Its automation tool. It would automate the tests.

So, my question is, is there any method that i can follow to analyze it?
