  • All eyes are on Samsung and Nokia’s Android smartphones as the annual Mobile World Congress gets underway. However, another Android seller is looking to make its mark at the MWC. Though HTC One is the smartphone we are looking forward to from HTC this year, the company has unveiled its mid-range smartphones. The Taiwanese device maker launched two new Android smartphones- Desire 816 and Desire 610.

Starting with Desire 816 - We have a phone that features a 5.5-inch 720p HD display powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The device has 8GB of internal storage, microSD support for an additional 64GB and 1.5GB RAM. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with that can capture 1080p video, a 5-megapixel front camera, 2600mAh battery and HTC’s ‘Boom-Sound’ front-facing speakers. The phone comes with Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GPS connectivity options and support for 4G LTE backed by a nano-sim slot. Desire 816 seems to be patterned after HTC One range, but in plastic. While the smartphone will be available in the market from April, its price was kept under wraps.

Desire 610 was also announced on Monday but wasn’t covered during the press conference.

On the other hand, Desire 610 is not as exciting as the previous release today. It features 4.7-inch qHD (540 x 960p) display. The phone is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB RAM. It also comes with 8GB of internal storage expandable through a microSD card and sports BoomSound stereo speakers, just like other HTC smartphones. Desire 610 has an 8MP camera that can capture 720p video and a 1.3MP front facing camera. Further, it also supports WiFi, GPS connectivity and support for 4G LTE backed by 2040mAh battery. Price hasn’t yet been announced but HTC 610 will debut across Europe in May.
