Perhaps you can start Car Body Design - Car Design Resources, News and Tutorials. If you run into any problems feel free to post them and I'm sure we'll be able to help you out. Cheers! Are you sure? This action cannot be undone. -

Well Sagar its a vast and great subject. you may do it with your Auto designing subject to learn basic ideas and calculations. or you can choose to learn professional Car Designing from only dedicated institute by Dilip Chabariya i.e. DYPDC - Center For Automotive Research & Studies...sagar ranjan sahuhello is some body there , i am the student of the automobile enginering branch want to learn the car body design , do you have any .... links to learn the car body design
Good luck! Are you sure? This action cannot be undone. -

Hello Sagar,
Fine that you are interested in Vehicle body design. While designing it you must take considers various aspects. You should start your design and consider it for various consideration and redesign. It would be a long process, yet would be interesting.
You can participate in Various Car fabrication competitions like SUPRA,BAJA conducted by SAE.
First your body design starts with the vehicle you are designing. That is the specifications like its SUV,UTV,HV,etc., then the Speed(Engine and transmission required)Suspension,Steering,Brakes. After the collection of the this data you are confined to an outline of the design.
Second one to consider is the Aerodynamics. In aerodynamics you have to play with reducing the drag and also at the same time stopping the lift. For this you can consider reading Aerodynamics by John D Anderson.this would further refine your Outline your design. You can analyse this by means of Ansys Fluent.
Cost analysis is a must.Be clear about the cost first. On which you have to spend the most and the least.
Next important is the Ergonomics.Ergonomics makes your design comfortable to your Consumers(But not for you,You have to think and redesign and do many changes for this.)For this you can see some NPTEL videos.
Next thing is safety. In no way it is connected with Ergonomics. You see the first gives comfort this ensures life. This is more important than the previous. You have to search under Oshas. You can ensure safety by doing analysis in Ansys,Abacus or any other software.
Next your design has to be given some dynamic concepts. So learn vehicle dynamics. For this refer Thomas Gillespie.
For every design some standards must be meet with.If your design is for any competition see that the rulebook is strictly followed.
Never fail to use Computer tools to develop and optimize your ideas.
This is a great process and fine if you work as a team.
So far you have only framed the outline. Now you go to design each components.First concentrate on Engine,Transmission system,Suspension,Steering,Brake, etc.,Your make or Buy decision is important. Before you start the design make sure of the availability.
You can also post your questions here! And we can discuss on it.
You can do it without taking to account the design aspects.Yet it would cause a great trouble.Well planned would Well finished,Well designed would Well perform
All the Best! Are you sure? This action cannot be undone.
