  • How the protection of transformer can be done using SCADA

    Generally,in brief my lecturer told that SCADA is computer based process of supervisory control and data acquisition and when the fault is generated a frequency will be generated at the fault station(modulation) which matches(will the same) frequency in the control frequency and when the control room receives the signal it rectifies the fault at that place..Is this about the operation on protection of transformer or anything else about this..CEans could you please elaborate this issue..and clear my doubts on SCADA for transformer protection.

    SCADA cannot be directly connected to the transformer: it is just an overview of your system it needs an another system like PLC which can be connected, to the transformer system.

    SCADA is just a viewer it does not protect any equipment directly.....

    vipul is right scada is the only thing which show u all readings in a control room and from where u can change where settings only... u need to install protection devices for transformer in its switchgear panel
    this is by the best of my knowledge
