Hi-tech Concept of 'Smart' at Frankfurt

Automaker Smart is planning to introduce light weight vehicle in this month's Frankfurt auto show. The theme of Frankfurt in 2011 is Eco-friendly vehicles with sustained urban mobility. That is the reason why auto majors like Audi, BMW and Honda have launched their vehicles with great enthusiasm in the market. The technology which Smart employed might be unknown but the strategy is the same- Reduction in Weight.

With the combined efforts from the chemical makers at BASF also the car which is showcased has completely different energy management system. For example its wheels are made completely from Plastic. This makes each wheel 3 Kg lighter than its other counterparts. The use of materials in insulation, reflection and other processes and features makes it a completely new type of vehicle.

The star attraction in this car or rather the one which is easily noticed is its roof. The roof acts as a light transmitting surface. The roof is nothing but an energy generating surface. The other features are the use of OLEDs (Organic Light emitting Diodes) fitted on the front panel of the interior of the vehicle. It illuminates whenever the front door is opened.
Even the vehicle heating has seen innovation in Smart. The automobile showcases a fabric that heats the passenger at the most efficient points. Well this is not only limited at providing him warmth. The heating arrangement is coated with an infrared paint which can reject light and hence keep the things cooler during sunny days.
