Google India To Train Engineering Students In Andhra Pradesh On Cloud & Mobile Computing

Google India has taken an important steps to educate engineering students in Andhra Pradesh on latest technologies in the cloud and mobile domain. The company has signed MoU with the Government of AP to train students of the Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKC) which is run in select engineering colleges across AP. As a part of the agreement, Google will train the trainers & mentors at the AP Society For Knowledge Networks (APSFKNW) and also offer required Google services & software absolutely free of cost to the students. Office of Minister for Information Technology, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, has confirmed the development.
The MoU was signed between IT minister & Nelson Mattos, VP (Europe & Emerging Markets) Google. The state government has allotted 20 acres of land to Google India to setup their campus. The company, in return, has committed to employ 6000 software engineers.
We appreciate the move taken by Google to fix the engineering education in India to some extent and bridge the education-industry gap. However, it'd be interesting to watch what kind of jobs Google will offer to engineering students. We believe it would mostly be in the support domain - which won't require 'engineering' knowledge per se.
