MIT researchers have developed a new P-Type transistor that promises to speed up the carrier mobility by up to 4x, resulting into faster performance. The researchers were able to replace traditional silicon with germanium and I'm wondering what properties of germanium are responsible for the improvements in speed.

The question is - how do you think the improvement in transistor speeds will affect the overall electronics industry?

Very simple the Frequency like 2 Ghz and the like will go to 100 or even 200 Ghz by year end

Though this high leap is not much acceptable in the world The processor speeds will be quadrupled by these high speed switches.

Alright, this things are really starting to piss me off. Somehow I am trying to get my hold over VLSI & just got around CMOS. As soon as I got it, they now don't want to use CMOS but FINFET and now this...😡

On the side note, I would love processor working at 200 GHZ..😁

Hey man One question on mobility I would trust N type for higher mobility right Then why still working in p Type any special reasons

Sure this innovation can surely make upcoming devices faster as every transistor has some switching time. And in any electronics device base is transistor so with this high speed transistor we can achieve more speed for sure.

Let's see how far this goes.
