GDPE Landmark Building: Lucky Coin Structure @ Guangzhou, China

Guangdong Plastics Exchange is constructing an innovative civil engineering structure in the shape of 'Luck Coin' at Guangzhou, China near the Pearl River. Italian architect Joseph di Pasquale has designed this "GDPE Landmark Building". The overall height of the building is 138 meters and and boasts a hole spanning 47 meters in diameter in the center. Chief engineer on the project, Wang Zhanshan says that the structure is a perfect amalgamation of Chinese & Western designs. A golden coin, jade or waterwheel alongside the bank of river means luck to Cantonese; according to Chinese beliefs, flowing water brings money.
