Gamera II The Human-Powered Helicopter Tries World Record Flight Today!

Having knocked down the existing world record more than twice, the huge human-powered quadrotor developed by the University of Maryland students is all set to create history in the field of aviation this very day. The #-Link-Snipped-# shall fly out for the Sikorsky Prize by hovering for a whole minute on human power alone. Their very first attempt spanned 35 seconds!

Past year, UMD students had created a new record of a human powered hover that hovered for 11.4 seconds.This time, their design is lightweight (lighter by 30%), as per the Sikorsky Prize eligibility, and also the hovering time is to be 1 whole minute (60 seconds). Even the altitude that the aircraft should reach is as less as 10 meters.
