    why circular pipes section are provided for carrying fluid?

    also less perimeter for the same cross-section compared to the other shapes. that will imply less cost and less friction.

    Not quite. Friction factor is higher for laminar flows. See Moody Chart here:

    OK, circular pipe has a greater capacity of sustaining stress. If produced by seamless tubing method, it is of best quality. While other reasons like less drag etc are already provided by our fellow CEans. 😀
