Project Abstract / Summary : Voting helps to form a system that governs the nation. The system which is currently used for voting in India is the EVM (Electronic voting machine). It has several limitations. To eliminate the drawbacks of the existing system, we have proposed a system with the help of biometrics. The RFID tag which contains a unique 12-digit ID corresponds to the details of the voters as in the voter id is allotted to each individual. If the card is valid, the user inputs his/her fingerprint. After the verification and matching of the fingerprints, the voters are allowed to cast their vote. Thus with the help of this system, voting process can be made more simple, secure and efficient. The counting of the votes is a tedious process and so the concept of IoT is invoked for the simultaneous display of the vote counts online.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : We have been having a keen thrust in developing something that could benefit the government. And thus came the concept of voting. Our system can be implemented in future to make the process of voting faster and secure. Also, the man power would be reduced in large terms.

Project Highlights : The system which we have proposed has several advantages as it verifies the identity of the individual and prevents false votes. The results of the votes are displayed in a dedicated website immediately and it reduces the time that is normally taken for the counting of votes.
