FBike Is Flying Bike From Czech Engineers' To Do List

We engineers are fascinated by the flying machines and a flying bike has been one of the top items in most of the engineers 'to-do' list for long. The latest attempt at it comes from Czech Engineers who're actively working on the FBike aka Flying Bike. The idea they're working on is to have electrically driven propellers attached two a two-wheeled chassis. The project began in 2011 with association of three Czech companies Technodat, Evektor and Duratec. The overall plan is to make a bike that'd act as a normal bike when on the road and will take off / land vertically upwards with the help of propellers.

Engineers are evaluating the designs through 3D modeling software and seem to have settled with four 10kW compact brushless electric motors to power the two the 1300 mm (51-inch) diameter propellers. A set of twin 650 mm propellers on either side, powered by 3.5kW motors will offer the needed stability when the FBike is airborne. The total flight-weight is estimated to be about 170 Kg, which will include the weight of the rider. While the engineers take their own time to design the prototypes of FBike, you might just want to have a look at the 3D designs -
