Facebook Now Supports 360-Degree Photo Sharing - Here's How You Use The New Feature

The social networking website Facebook made another big step to bring content based on Virtual Reality on users' News Feeds as Product Manager Andy Huang introduced 360 degree photos via Facebook's official blog. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has made the platform into a sensation for people to post their photos for sharing among friends. After the recent addition of the 360-degree video sharing feature on the platform, Facebook is now all set up for panoramas and 360 degree photos. This will evidently give users a much more immersive and live experience of the shared pictures.

Just like 360-degree videos, the 360-degree photos are easily identifiable. Simply look for a compass like icon to the right of the picture. To view around the image, just tap your finger and drag around. Or on a desktop/laptop, just click and drag. Facebook might partner with public figures and organisations, like NASA, to let people visit the International Space Station in 360-degree for example.

Posting 360 photos is just as simple. All one has to do is capture a picture using the panorama or a 360 degree photo capturing app, or maybe a 360 degree camera like Nokia Acquires Withings For $191 Mn, To Expand Wings In IoT Industry, and then upload it over Facebook - that's it. It will then recognize the 360 degree content and add the compass icon for identification and ease of use. Also if you're using a phone which is compatible with Samsung Gear VR, you can view the picture in VR by tapping the “View in VR” button that appears on the top-left corner of the phone.

This is surely going to gain Facebook the much needed popularity, as it is facing a stiff competition from Snapchat. 360-degree photo sharing will definitely redefine the experience one gets over social networking sites.
