Not India specific. I've seen lot of students deal with similar issues while selecting colleges for their post graduation.

    Share generic tips.

Well it's good to check the employment rates after graduating from a certain University, that usually indicates that it is widely acknowledged in companies, it has good links and that previous students studying the same subjects have gone on to get jobs.. which is always a worrying factor.. to graduate and not be offered a job :\

Colleges with strong engineering schools are usually ranked and listed, also usually giving which branches of engineering the schools has a focus on. For undergrad studies it is not nearly as important as graduate school where it becomes vital. Pick 5 schools you are interested in attending and can afford as well as meet admission requirements. Apply and make your final selection based on the results.

    ok,,

for Post grad aspirants when I was doing some normal non consultant search, I came across this group of Grad students who started offering services for aspirants.

    its known as i20fever.

    apart from that,
your own interest, and then standard rankings need to be taken care of.
You cant make a mistake when you r serious 😁
and then it's always good to get in touch with alumni of the uni/college and then enquire . The uni might be too good, but then it needs to cater to you! so get in touch with ex students know the uni.

Even though others already do this? Would our list be any different and considered any more knowledgeable?

Top tiered Engineering schools are expensive, personally I'd recommend just taking some #-Link-Snipped-#. I think most of what makes you a good computer scientist/engineer/etc is going to be your real world experience, so I personally don't see why you'd pay top dollar for an expensive university. A lot of employers I've talked to at career fairs don't even care about your GPA, they are more interested in what you are doing outside of class.

I would give a step wise procedure for selecting a good college..
This includes self preparation too. These are the steps..
    1. If the selection is based on some cut off, then make sure what your rank would be.. If exact rank is not published then go for some approximation..
    2. Based on the ranks of the colleges rated by a popular and correct agency, prepare a list of colleges that you would prefer joining.. This list should be ranked too..
    3. Then download the exact cut off for different courses offered by these colleges according to last year's admission.
    4. Now prepare a list of courses that you would prefer studying.. This should also be in order.. Dont just consent to your parents wish.. You make them understand your wish..
    5. Now according to your rank and the proximity of your rank to the rank needed for admission in these colleges last year, chose any one college..
This college admission is very important because it is the part where you decide your future career. So think twice and chose wisely..
    GOOD LUCK GUYS..
