These laboratories are doing research in diverse fields ranging from life sciences, electronics and materials development to missiles, armament and armored and heavy vehicles.
I have read that one needs to contact the individual laboratory as per the subject of his/her specialization.
For the training in DRDO you have to send there NOC (no objection certificate) from the college's Training & Placement Department and a request application in the favour of DRDO. After receiving the acknowledgment or approval letter from DRDO, one can begin his/her training.
If anyone has complete details please post here.
Details regarding placement can be seen here: RAC, Home

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I think this is something that many engineering students are looking for.
I recently heard from a friend who works at DRDO as a junior scientist that it's mostly through trial and error. Meaning that anyone applying for internship should write a letter to the specific department's DRDO Lab Director and get it signed on it from your college or University HOD (Head of Department) or Dean and send it through FAX.
Students should obviously highlight their skills and mention the papers written or presented. Don't forget to add your contact details.
DRDO works for the following mentioned departments of military technology:
- Aeronautics
- Armaments
- Combat
- Vehicle
- Electronics
- Advanced computing
- Simulation and life science
- Naval System
If the lab director finds you suitable, you will most probably hear from them via email or call for the next round i.e. an interview.
All the best.

Apparently, the receive many, many requests for summer internship at DRDO, industrial training at DRDO and final year project work at DRDO.
DRDO Labs are not all located in the same location. They are spread out across the country. There is no centralized system that can monitor your application/resume and send it to appropriate department.
Therefore, DRDO officials want you to choose any one of the DRDO Departments from the following:
- Armaments
- Materials
- Electronics
- Heavy Vehicles
- Missiles
- Life Sciences
- Aeronautics
- Naval Systems
- Combat Engineering
- MED
Only the Director of the lab can authorize any industrial trainings.
DRDO wants you to directly contact the Director of the concerned lab through the Head of your College/Institute.
Anyone here applying? Anyone has any queries? Please put your questions/comments below.

I got a call from drdo for internship but i have a question that what is the opportunity after getting training from drdo?
I want to apply for summer internship in DRDO in the electronics department. I am currently pursuing 3rd year B.Tech in ECE in VIT university. Can I get the mail id or any contact to approach them? I did not find any relevant information in the official website.
Thank you in advance.
@Moksha Reddy Looks like not a lot of members have done their internship from RCI Hyderabad. From the reviews of some of the jobs sites, it is clear that the interns get to work on a lot of interesting projects during their internship at RCI. A typical day starts with security checks and the staff and mentors seem to be helpful. However , there are certain limitations for access to specific labs inside RCI, DRDO.
Do share your experience of working as an intern at RCI.
good to know. is it still available? i am really interested.
Hello sister plz tell me about mechanical engineering dept in drdo
@bala - It'd be better if you could ask specific information. Have you checked DRDO's official website for information regarding internships for mechanical engineers?

Hey ma'am I am 2nd year chemical engineering student and I want training in DRDO Kanpur/Delhi but I can't find the way to apply there. So tell me ma'am about the process of training in DRDO/ISRO and if u can forward me the email of directors of DRDO then it will be a great help for me.
Thanks Ma'am
Mam what is the procedure to do internship in isro for ece student??
Interesting question posted long ago but left answered. Let's see.
ISRO does offer internship to college students. The programmes include Internships [summer Internship, Winter Internship, Long Term Internship at ISRO] and curriculum based projects [Projects for B.E., B.Tech, M.E., M.Tech, etc.
Here's the link to their official website: Internships/ Projects/ Training - ISRO
For ECE students, internship at ISRO has projects/training available in following areas:
- Remote Sensing and GIS
Digital Systems
Astronomy
Planetary and Space Atmospheric Sciences
For eligibility, availability and further information, visit the respective centres’ website.
DRDO has two training centres in India- Pune & Missouri. Both training centres are equipped with different laboratories for different purposes and sectors like aeronautics, life science, missiles, heavy machines, etc. The students can apply to any division of their choice.
Here's the whole procedure to apply for an internship at DRDO:
1) Choose the respective laboratory/field in which you want to be trained.
2) Prepare a short cover letter along with the CV and send it to their mail id.
3) After the email sent, wait for their response. You will get a call/email if your profile gets accepted by their respective laboratory head.
4) You can send a follow-up email if you are not getting a response even after 2-3 weeks.
Suggestions regarding application: You should keep in mind that-
(i) Your cover letter is what matters most. It should cover all the points regarding why you want to intern in DRDO.
(ii) Your CV should be well formatted and error-free. Be aware of grammatical errors.
(iii) Keep proper and short content in the body and subject of the email you sent.
(iv) Connections do work. If you know someone in DRDO then check with them regarding your application.
Following is the list of contacts, you can use to send your application at DRDO:
1) Aeronautical development establishment - director@ade.drdo.in
2) Aerial delivery research and development establishment - director@adrde.drdo.in
3) Advanced numerical research and analysis group - director@anurag.drdo.in
4) Centre for Advanced semiconductor - centrehead@asemit.drdo.in
5) Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics - director@cair.drdo.in
6) Centre for fire, explosive and environment safety - director@cfees.drdo.in
7) Defence scientific information and documentation centre - director@desidoc.drdo.in
8) Defence electronics application laboratory - director@deal.drdo.in
9) Defence Institute of advanced technology - director@diat.drdo.in
10) Institute of technology management - director@itm.drdo.in

13) Defence metallurgical research laboratory - director@dmrl.drdo.in
14) Gas turbine research establishment - director@gtre.drdo.in
15) Institute of nuclear medicine and allied science - director@inmas.drdo.in
