DARPA 'Avatar Project' To Make Your Avatar Come True

We're quite sure that the research engineers at United States Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA) are inspired by James Cameron's Avatar movie. However, they are going a step ahead and want the 'Avatar' to be real; not to let you roam in an outer world; but to let the soldiers control their Avatars in the actual battlefields. DARPA has decided to keep cool $7 million (out of total $2.8 billion) aside for the 'Avatar Project'. The aim of the project is to replace the humans with semi-autonomous, bi-pedal machines. The team aims to develop algorithms and interfaces which Cameron created in the virtual world.

The research engineers are creating an advance 'telepresence' system to work in sync with the robots. The 'Avatar' would be agile enough to do the 'dirty work' of the war, clear rooms and even do rescue work. DARPA is already working on developing anti-LASER technology that would protect soldiers from high intensity LASER beams.

We somehow don't like the way technology is progressing. What about you?
