Courses or Jobs after B.Tech in agricultural engineering

Agriculture engineering is one of the less common branches of Engineering India with only a handful of colleges. Being from a top Agricultural University in Rajasthan, I can understand the dilemma in Agri students after B.tech as not much information is available about career options. Although I am from ECE, I have many friends and seniors in Agri. There are a number of options for students after B.tech in Agriculture engineering such as:

1.
M.tech from premier institutes like IITs- You need to clear GATE in order to get admission into M.tech Program. A stipend of Rs 12,500 per month is also given. Around 2500-3000 appear for GATE each year and it is pretty easy to get into IIT's with 3-4 months of preparation. One of my seniors scored 36/100 in GATE 2017 and got under 50 rank. He is in IIT Kharagpur. You can do M.tech in the following streams-
A. Renewable Energy
B. Farm Machinery and Power Engineering
C. Food Processing
D. Soil and Water Resources Engineering
E. Agriculture Machinery Engineering

2. Job in Private companies- Most students get placed on campus in companies like Sonalika, Mahindra, Jain Irrigation, TAFE - Tractors and Farm Equipment, Escorts Tractors, etc. They offer packages in the range 4-6 lacs/annum.

3. Government Jobs ( JE, AE, AO etc)- State government issues notifications for the post of junior engineers, assistant engineers and Agriculture Officers in government departments. You have to clear a written test. In 2015, 50 out of 55 students from our college got selected as JE's with a starting salary of Rs 40k plus.

4. Higher studies/ Research- India is an Agriculture based economy so research Agriculture in always needed. You may pursue Ph.D. and become a Scientist or researcher. Also, you might like to pursue your career as a Professor. ICAR is the top body regulating all activities regarding Agriculture development/research. You may find some really useful information on their #-Link-Snipped-#.

I am sure there are many other options besides these as well. Please share if you know something which may help Agriculture engineering students in making better decisions.
