China's TIANHE-2 (Milkyway 2 that is) has a mind blowing speed of 33.86 petaflops and is ahead of schedule by two years! It is twice as fast as the current supercomp Titan (USA).

(A petaflop is the ability of a computer to do one quadrillion floating point operations per second (#-Link-Snipped-#). Additionally, a petaflop can be measured as one thousand teraflops.)

I think the world's already moving faster towards zetaflop computing. I had an opportunity to listen to Dr. Vijay Bhatkar's lecture on the topic. I hope India makes the first of zetaflop supercomputers.
