Canon To Bring EOS 80D DSLR To The Markets
Japan based Canon Inc. which is known throughout the world for their SLR cameras has now introduced a new one for the camera markets. A successor to its very well received Canon EOS 70D, Canon 80D is something youâd surely love if you are into photography. The highlight of this camera are the new 45-point autofocus (AF) system, 24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus. Letâs look at the features in detail.
The Canon EOS 70D had a 19 point AF system. The Canon EOS 80D however has 45 point AF system. The advantage of the 45 point AF system is that it is easier to compose and click the pictures of the off-centre subjects. Also, the added focus points provide a clear image even in extreme low-light conditions. Canon said that the low-light performance has also improved dramatically because the cameraâs artificial intelligence (AI) Servo AF II uses colour tracking to detect skin tone and hence clicks focused and clear pictures of even moving subjects.
Also, unlike its predecessor, the EOS 80D has an intelligent viewfinder which has an approximately 100% coverage. The advantage of complete coverage is that the photographers can view the objects at the corner of the scene, which will reduce the need to crop images during post processing. EOS 80D also possesses a new 24.2 MP CMOS sensor and an increased ISO range of 100-16000. The ISO range for videos is from 100-12800 however but both of these ranges are expandable upto 25,600, again providing an advantage in low-light conditions.
The movie mode of the camera too is superb. It provides an ability to shoot the videos in 1080p mode at the frame rate of 60 fps as compared to the 30 fps in EOS 70D. The Canon EOS 80D also provide various movie modes like HDR and Time Lapse and filters like fantasy, old movie, dramatic monochrome and miniature. The other features that the camera offers is the built-in headphone jack, along with Wi-fi and NFC facility to share the images with the mobile devices.
The camera will become available from March 2016 in USA for an estimated retail price of $1199. The availability and pricing in other countries is not yet known.
