Can T Mobile G Slate Make It To The Pinnacle Of The American Tablet Market?

The global tablet market and especially the American are heating up real fast. Having sensed this rising heat, the BlackBerry playbook is trying to make new customers. iPad is already in its second generation and has captured a voluminous market share. In such a cut throat competition amongst the various products of the same segment, can the T-mobile G slate make its way to the top? Let us try to analyse this by having a close look of the features, its’ highs and lows.

#-Link-Snipped-#All the upcoming tablets are being measured against the iPad 2 as it is being considered as standard atleast when we are referring to the design. To stand tall in the tablet market, Samsung has also made an audacious move by renaming its “Optimus Pad 3D” to “G-Slate” and branding it as “T-mobile G-slate”. Unlike other tablet phones, which offer choices for storage, color, connectivity the G-slate offers 32 GB of storage, HSPA+ connectivity and a maroonish color. This is what stops this tablet from scaling great heights in the market. It offers a little choice for configuration to the customer. The only thing which you can select is the plan i.e. 2GB for $39.99 and 5GB for $49.99.

Let us have a look at the features which make it desirable:

    [*]3D video recording and playback
[*]5 megapixel camera with rear stereoscopic array.
    [*]Single camera recording: 1080p
[*]LED flash and 2 megapixel front facing camera.
[*]Runs on 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor.
    [*]1GB RAM
    [*]1280 X 768 pixel screen.
    [*]Can connect to T mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network
[*]Mirror itself to a TV with mini HDMI port.
[*]A bright and crispier 8.9 inch screen.
    [*]Weighs 1.37 pouds.

It has two speakers located at either ends of the tablet if held lengthwise. The power button, charging port and the headphone jack are on the left side. It has a normal 8 hours of battery life. The apps included are T-mobile TV, QuickOffice, Need for speed: shift, doubletwist player and T-mobile web links.

The lows for this tablet are as follows:

[*]Only red and blue anaglyph 3D
    [*]No SD card slot
    [*]High price: $529.99
[*]Screen proves out to be small for finger typing.
[*]Feels heavy than iPad 2 due to unequal weight distribution.
    [*]Wonky volume recorder.
    [*]“Wi-Fi only” version not available.
