I wan't knew the fact that homosexual can not donate blood. Yesterday when I came to know that effective July 1st China had lifted a 14 year ban from lesbians to donate blood, however ban for the Gay's is still persisting in China.

Similarly after a blood drough this summar (Because of back to back hurricanes and bad summer) US government is deeply thinking on removing a 30+ years ban from Gay's to donate blood.

Note: The ban was imposed on homosexuals years back when awareness of the deadly virus that causes AIDS was very less among general punblic. At that time, there wasn't a good test to detect whether HIV was present in donated blood, and HIV was getting into the nation's blood supply. They knew this because hemophiliacs who were getting blood transfusions started showing symptoms of AIDS.

Do you think that is it correct to accept blood from Homosexuals??

    Though this seems to be a topic of debate;

    However as from last week two of the biggest government in the world had allowed this, isn't it big enough of a news be in a news section as well?

    It made sense when the exact cause of AIDS was not clear and it was widely believed that homosexuality might be an important cause for the same. Now, since we have a much better understanding about AIDS and most other diseases apparently linked to homosexuality, there is no reason to stop homosexuals from donating blood and even organs. In fact, continuing to be reluctant towards this can even be considered denying this privilege to some people based on their sexual orientation. Donating blood is a privilege, after all! 😀
