    both of these are simple to understand.
    But if you want some with high grade then try out
    Automobile Engineering by N.K GIRI

    Kirpal singh's two volumes are the best.

    besides that check out "automotive mechanics" by Crouse and Anglin.

    for basics refer "automechanics" by webster.
