The BMW Group was awarded four prizes for BMW ConnectedDrive in “Plus X Award”, which is an annual, internationally renowned technology competition. BMW took home awards related not only to Innovation, Design and Operating comfort, but was also entitled as "Best Technology of the Year 2011" which confirms their obsession with quality.

The jury for the nomination process includes 134 international specialized journalists and market experts from 32 countries. They judge the competitors based on extraordinary design, innovative technologies that use high quality materials as well as intelligent and straightforward operating concepts.

In the ‘Automotive’ evaluation category, the jurors were highly impressed by BMW ConnectedDrive, a concept from the BMW Group that focuses on connecting the driver to their vehicle in an intelligent manner. BMW ConnectedDrive comprises five services: BMW Assist, BMW Online, BMW Tracking, BMW TeleServices and in-vehicle internet access.

This includes innovations like the full-colour head-up display, camera-based traffic sign recognition, BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition and Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. Its own apps such as “BMW Connected” and “My BMW Remote” additionally provide increased convenience. “Real-Time Traffic Information”, which provides information on the current traffic situation in real time and offers alternative routes with less traffic if required, will be a part of the portfolio from the autumn of 2011, as will Panoramio and Street View supported by BMW Online, as well as GoogleTM local search.

BMW Group has fetched a feather in it's cap by achieving the “Plus X Award” which says a lot about it's quality focus and vision for innovation. Posted in: #Coffee Room
