Bluetooth SIG is all set up to roll out the new version of Bluetooth technology, named Bluetooth 5. Bluetooth has always been a very integrated and significant of devices like mobile phones for sharing information and communicating with remote devices. Over the years, the complexity of technology has been growing which led to the use of Bluetooth technology kind of obsolete, when compared to the Wi-Fi. Moving concurrently with the changing times, Bluetooth 5 would become an efficient way to communicate with IoT devices.

Bluetooth 5 will notably sweep away two limitations of the current Bluetooth version- speed and range. The official announcement says it will have four times the speed and twice the range for low energy Bluetooth transmissions, which to be specific was announced way back in November last year. The new version is said to ramp up its support for location and navigation based information, and other such "connectionless services". Also the increased speed and connectivity will let people yield better results with IoT products. Bluetooth 5 will make the development of Smarter home solutions like smart sockets, smart lighting, more efficient.
