be project idea - augmented reality calorie indicator

Coming up with a project idea that's not done before (or at least not attempted by many) is not an incredibly difficult task. You don't have to build another airline reservation system. Those who're looking project idea for their BE project submissions, here's an idea you may want to work on -

Abstract: To develop a mobile application or electronic device with augmented reality function which will show the calorie content of food items on the screen in real time, when a camera is pointed to it. This will aid the diet cautious people judge whether to eat a particular item based on the calorie content.

Example: When focused on pastry - the system will quickly discover the calorie content of it based on the closest match with the database and then display it on the screen.

Overall equipment needed would be a mobile phone loaded with Android / iOS / Blackberry / MeeGo platform (whichever is easier for you).

If CEans find this idea interesting, I welcome all ideas and ways to develop this. Those who want to pick up this idea may comment below on what help they want. We aren't in favor of providing ready-made code and circuits.
